Locus Apps
Privacy Policy for Apps Sold Through Paddle
Effective October 16, 2026
This policy covers the apps I, TJ Draper, make and sell outside the App Store through Paddle, including Locus Git Gui, and their pages on this website.
The short version: nothing about your work in these apps ever reaches me. Buying a license gives me your email address, so I can send you your license key, and an app checks its license once a day.
Your work
What you do in these apps stays on your Mac. Locus Git Gui, for example, never sends the contents of your repositories anywhere, except where you send them yourself, such as pushing to a remote. The apps don’t collect analytics.
Buying a license
These apps are sold through Paddle, which sells them as the merchant of record. When you buy one, you give your payment details, name, email address, and billing address to Paddle, whose privacy policy covers them. I never see your payment details.
My license server keeps your email address, your license, and references to your customer record and subscription in Paddle. It uses your email address to send your license key, and to send it again if you lose it. The email goes through Mailgun, with no tracking of opens or clicks.
License checks
When an app checks its license, at launch and once a day, it sends the license, the app’s version, and an anonymous identifier the app makes for your device. It never sends anything about your work. The server keeps only the day each device last checked, so I can see how many devices use a license and which versions of each app are still in use. It doesn’t keep IP addresses.
To show prices, an app sends the server your device’s region, and the server passes only that country to Paddle. Redeeming a promo code records the code with your license and that anonymous identifier, so each code works once per device.
Your license and iCloud
An app may keep your license in your own iCloud account, so every Mac signed in to your Apple Account picks it up. Apple provides and secures iCloud, and I never learn your Apple Account.
Updates
To check for updates, an app downloads a list of its releases from GitHub. GitHub sees an ordinary request from your Mac, the same as visiting a web page. I’m not involved in that request and don’t receive anything from it.
Pricing and checkout pages
The pricing and checkout pages for these apps load Paddle’s own script, which uses your IP address to find your country and show its tax, and runs the checkout. Paddle’s privacy policy covers what it collects there.
This website
This website doesn’t use accounts, cookies, analytics, or tracking, apart from Paddle’s script on the pricing and checkout pages. The server may keep standard request logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested, for security and troubleshooting.
Your information
To see what the license server holds about you, or to have it deleted, email me at the address under Contact.
Children
These apps aren’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If an app ever needs to handle your information differently, I’ll update this page before that version is released and describe what changed. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
