Locus Git GuiBeta
Git, at home on your Mac.
A Git client that looks and behaves like a Mac app, can be driven entirely from the keyboard, and puts doing Git well ahead of everything else.
Git, the way you already use it
Your own Git
It runs the git you already use, with your shell’s environment, so hooks, credential helpers, commit signing, and LFS behave exactly as they do in Terminal.
Everything from the keyboard
Every action is in the menu bar, and every menu item is in the command palette. Press ⌘P, type a few letters, and go.
At home on the Mac
Native tabs, the menus where you expect them, and windows that come back the way macOS brings back any other app’s.
Diffs that keep up
Inline or side by side, staging a file, a hunk, or a single line. A diff of a hundred thousand lines scrolls as easily as one of ten.
Git’s own words
When a command fails, you see everything Git said, with a plain explanation and a next step for the failures it recognizes.
A way back
Hard resets, deleted branches, and force pushes ask first, then name the commit they left behind so you can get it back. Discarded changes go to the Trash.
Conflicts in their own window
Both sides above the result, each named for what it is, such as its branch, rather than “ours” and “theirs”. Take either or both from the keyboard.
Reviews
Check off a branch’s changes file by file, with comments on files and lines. A file that changes after you’ve checked it shows only what’s new.
Passwords stay with Git
When Git or SSH needs a password, it asks in a sheet on the window that ran the command. Your credential helper and SSH agent keep it, never the app.
Git comes first
Your repositories belong to you. Everything in the app is there to help you work with them, and it stays out of your way.
- No branching-model wizards, project boards, or built-in editor. Open in Editor hands off to your default editor.
- No info or analytics of any kind about your repositories or work is collected or sent anywhere.
- Your license travels with your Apple ID through iCloud, no account required.
- Signed and notarized, and updates itself when you say so.
Try it free for 30 days
Subscribe monthly or yearly when you’re ready. Use one license on as many Macs as you use (license is per user, not device).
Locus Git Gui is in beta, so expect frequent updates and occasionally the odd rough edge.
Without a license, Locus Git Gui still opens your repositories and shows their history, diffs, and status.
